Congratulations to all the players and coaches who brought their talent, dedication and abilities to the fields this year. It is because of people like you who make this Colt/Palomino League special. Remember that players aged 14 thru 20 can play at this level. If you have the desire to carry your baseball skills to the next level by competing against some of the very best players around, come to Orland Park Summer Colt/Palomino Baseball next year in 2007. It's surely the place to be for summer baseball in Orland Park. And we'll see you on the field.

Summary of final games:

In the championship game, the score was tied at zero until the Maroon half of the fourth inning. Tim Harmatys tripled to right center off Rob Randick. Two batters later he scored when Jason Casalino singled and he later scored after Vinnie Casalino reached on an error, followed by walks to Alan Anderson and Rich Yates.

Maroon scored again in the fifth when Kevin Castello hit a home run off Tim Wilkas to make the score 3-0. With two out in the bottom of the fifth, Jim Sura hit his 4th homer. Black closed the gap to 3-1. Maroon went three up and three down in the sixth on a ground out and two strike outs.

The bottom of the sixth saw Black send nine men to the plate with them scoring four runs. Brian Winchel led off and singled. Jeremy Spirakes followed with another single putting runners on first and second. After a walk to Ryan Demkowicz loaded the bases, Scott Duffy struck out for the first out. Mark Skiba drew a walk after fouling off some pitches from Chris Mena, forcing in a run. Joe Kamper singled to tie the game and Jimmy Straka grounded out to plate the Black's 4th run. With runners on second and third, Andy Zaremba singled for the innings fourth run.

A walk with two outs to Chris Mena in the top of the seventh, was followed by a ground out to third baseman Kyle Looft to end the game. Tim Wilkas picked up the win with three innings pitched and Chris Mena suffered the loss with 1/3 inning pitched.

Final: Black 5 runs, 7 hits and 5 runners left on base. Maroon 3 runs, 4 hits and 8 runners left on base.

Rob Randick was the Black's starter. He had 6 K's, 4 BB, 2 runs and 2 hits in four innings of work. Tim Wilkas had 5 K's, 1 BB, 1 run and 1 hit in three innings of work.

Tim Harmatys pitched 5 strong innings with 8 K's, 1 BB, 1 run and 3 hits. Chris Mena pitched 1/3 inning giving up 3 runs on three hits and 2 BB while having 1 strike out. Kevin Castello pitched the final 2/3 inning giving up 1 run on 1 hit.

In the consolation game, Gold beat Orange 10-7 with Gold breaking a 6-6 tie going into the seventh inning.
